WOMEN & CHILDREN AT MY LAI MOMENTS BEFORE THEY WERE SHOT BY US SOLDIERS
And then one soldier said…
“What should we do with them?”
The response from another soldier was
A burst of fire from many soldiers
— the women and children fell.
Six year old Hat survived and started to crawl away.
One of the soldiers shot him, too.
In the afternoon, the surviving villagers began to bury the dead where they had fallen.
-As related by US Army photographer Ronald Haeberle who took the picture and witnessed the killing.
